The "Late Show" Two-Week Hiatus

The "Late Show with David Letterman" is on a two-week hiatus (i.e. They will be showing re-runs for two weeks.); therefore , there won't be any new posts this week, but I will be back on Monday with some brand new behind-the-scenes videos from the past three weeks that I was unable to previously post. Thanks for reading and watching, and I'll see you next Monday!

Morgan Freeman Quickly Enters & Exits the "Late Show"

Most of the autographs seekers were not very confident that Morgan Freeman would sign any autographs, because he has a history of just waving. One autograph seeker said he was able to get Morgan's autograph once by telling Morgan that he had taught him how to read by watching him on "Electric Company." I guess it touched Morgan's heart, and he signed his signature for the poor guy.

We had three issues with Morgan too. He didn't stop for autographs or the paparazzi, he left his SUV running the entire time he was in the theater (How much is gas these days? And what about the pollution. Isn't New York City polluted enough?), and his license plate had something to do with him being a musician (I know the SUV was probably rented, but still.).

Btw, the first video is very short, because my camera died.

Kaley Cuoco Signs Autographs Outside the "Late Show"

Kaley Cuoco was kind enough to stop, and sign autographs on the way in and out of the show. Her assistant had a keen eye about making sure no one got two autographs, and there was some interesting dialogue going on amongst the paparazzi. Someone thought Kaley had changed clothes, when she actually put on a jacket, and someone else thought she kissed her assistant (She did, but on the cheek.), and was disappointed because Kaley didn't kiss him.

Mary-Kate Olsen Outside the "Late Show"

Upon arriving at the "Late Show" Mary-Kate went straight to her fans, signed some autographs, and briefly posed for the paparazzi; however, when she left the show, she didn't sign any autographs. Her fans were yelling, "For the kids Mary-Kate. Sign for the Kids. These kids have been waiting!"but to no avail. Maybe she didn't sign after the show, because as she mentioned on the show, she had to immediately fly back to L.A. to film the television show "Samantha Who?"

There was a heated verbal exchange between two paparazzo after Mary-Kate posed for them. Apparently, the argument was over positioning behind the barricade. One male paparazzo called a female paparazzo a "b*tch," and a "c*unt" - loudly, and repeatedly to the shock, and dismay of the tourists that had just witnessed all the excitement of Mary-Kates arrival. Before Mary-Kate left the show, the male paparazzo attempted to find the female paparrazo to apologize, but she had already left very upset.

Jim Gaffigan Signs Autographs Outside "The Late"

Compared to Mary-Kate, Jim Gaffigan's departure was like being in the main research library - it was very low-key, and quiet. Jim didn't smile much for the paparazzi, or while signing autographs. It was like he wasn't sure why they wanted his picture or autograph, but I must say, he was very funny on the show.

Gavin Degraw Wasn't Outdone by Mary-Kate Outside the "Late Show"

Gavin wasn't going to sign any autographs after the show, but when someone in the crowd yelled, "Mary-Kate Olsen did it!" he replied, "Did she? I can't be outdone by Mary-Kate Olsen"and signed a ton of autographs, and took a number of pictures with fans - way more than Mary-Kate did. Men are so competitive.

Mark Odgers Dunks Over the Interns on the "Late Show"

It wasn't on the show, but Mark actually did three jumps. One without any interns, but he fell, the second one with interns, but he hurt his arm, and the third jump was successful. You'll notice that Mark is wearing blue arm-bands in the final jump. The arm band on his left arm is actually covering a band-aid from the scar he got during the second attempt. The right arm-band is just for show.

1st Jump - Without Interns

2nd Jump - With Interns, but Injured Arm.

3rd Jump - Successful

Abigail Breslin Signs Autographs at the "Late Show"

Abigail Breslin was really cute, and signed autographs for a small posse of autograph seekers. She also took photos with about four of her fans. One of the autograph seekers asked her if she liked the New York Mets, but she wasn't sure if she like them or not. She replied, "I don't know." For some reason she didn't pose for the paparazzi. They gave her a small boo (no pun intended) when she climbed into her SUV.

Part 3

Barry Sonnenfeld and his Dog Leave the "Late Show"

Barry Sonnenfeld took his dog with him to the "Late Show," and no, Barry's dog wasn't on the show. Maybe he had to take him to the vet after the show. My guess is that Barry loves his dog very much, and can't stand to be away from him for an extended amount of time. Barry told the autograph seekers that he could only sign a few autographs, because he had to get back to his dog.

Part 2

Tift Merritt Signs Autographs Outside the "Late Show"

Tift Merritt, and her entourage seemed to be shocked that there were fans, and autograph seekers waiting for her outside the "Late Show". Btw, there is a difference between fans, and autograph seekers. Tift graciously obliged, and signed a number of autographs, and took a few photos. She appeared to still be in shock when she boarded her awaiting 18-passenger van.

Tommy, Vince, Nikki, & Mick Depart the "Late Show"

Each member of Motley Crue excited the show separated, and got into separate SUVs. Vince was the only member of the band who was brave enough to cross a New York City street to sign some autographs.

Behind-The-Scenes of the Hello Deli "Late Show" Skit

These are clips from the "physic" skit that aired last night. Dave asked the "physic" to guess the price of a gallon of gasoline. Of course, she didn't get the correct answer.

Part 3

Charlize Theron Departs the "Late Show with David Letterman"

On the way into the "Late Show" Charlize Theron didn't stop for autographs or pose for the paparazzi. She did pose, and attempt to sign some autographs on the way out, but as you can see from the picture of the paparazzi below, it was very difficult to get a clear shot. The video is very shaky. It's like watching "Cloverfield."

Another major development from yesterday is that the barricades that autograph seekers have to stand behind were moved backed another 20 feet! Dave put barricades across the street for autograph seekers, but as you'll see it's nothing but trouble. There are cars constantly coming, the paparazzi goes nuts, and leaves their designated area thereby causing major problems for security, and only one or two fans can get an autograph due to the mayhem.

Part 2

Motley Crue Poses for Paparazzi Outside the "Late Show"

Motley Crue came out during the show to take group photos for the media. If you look closely you'll notice that Mick Mars doesn't look very interested in the photo session. Apparently, he is ailing. A fan who is staying at the same hotel on the lower east side as the band, said that Mike had to have two people help him into the SUV; however, he did seem fine on the show last night.

Will Smith Oustide the "Late Show with David Letterman"

The largest crowd since Bill Clinton was on the show, was on hand for the arrival of Will Smith; however, he didn't sign a lot of autographs. One of the autograph seekers speculated that Will may have been tired of signing autographs, because a large crowd of autograph seekers were at his hotel earlier in the morning.

The autograph seeker went on to mention that Will stays at the same hotel every time. He tried to keep the hotel's location a secret, but I was able to figure it out. I won't reveal the location, but I'll give you a hint. The hotel is in the same building that was prominently featured in "Cloverfield."

Part 1

Part 2

Joe Buck Outside the "Late Show with David Letterman"

Joe Buck kept telling the crowd of people that were waiting for Will Smith that, "I'm not Will Smith." That was very obvious, but Joe did have a lot of people ask for his autograph, and to have their picture taken with him. He was very accommodating, and made small talk with the crowd.

Denis Leary Arrives at the "Late Show with David Letterman"

Denis Leary arrived on Monday for the taping of Friday's show. He was very kind, and signed a lot of autographs. He made small talk with the autograph seekers, and caught a guy trying to get two large pictures signed. eBay? However, he only briefly stopped for a few pictures with the paparazzi.

Keyshia Cole Leaving the "Late Show with David Letterman"

Keyshia Cole took a long time to come out after the show! David Letterman even left before she did. Somehow I missed it, but when she bends down in the clip, she is trying to get her puppy to jump up, so she could take some pictures with it/him/her - whatever, I'm a cat person anyway.

The flowers are a prop, and came from Keyshia Cole herself, and not the "Late Show." Someone is Keyshia's entourage had the flowers the whole time while they were waiting for her to come out. Keyshia was really nice. She signed a ton of autographs, and took a few pictures.

An autograph seeker asked one of Keyshia's backup singers when Keyshia was coming out, and she responded "I don't talk to her. She is a bad per.." She didn't finish the sentence. No, I'm not telling you which one it was. I don't want to get the potentially oppressed girl fired.

Keyshia Cole Signs Autographs Outside the "Late Show"

Like I said in the earlier post, Keyshia signed a ton of autographs for her "fans." I put fans in quotes, because the older White guy couldn't think of any of her songs when asked. Also, Keyshia's mom joined in to make small talk with the autograph seekers.

Teri Garr Leaves the "Late Show with David Letterman"

Due to Teri Garr's multiple sclerosis, she was unable to sign autographs, and the side door was opened for her, so that she would be closer to her SUV. Her fans were saddened by her condition, and were very supportive.

Jason Batemen Leaving the "Late Show with David Letterman"

For some reason, the barrier that autographs seekers have to stand behind was moved back about 15 feet, but Jason was kind enough to make the trek to sign autographs. He eventually made the trek back to take photos with the paparazzi before jumping into his SUV.

It's interesting that he spoke about his kid on the show, while his fans were speaking about the car seat in his SUV, and his kid outside.

Boston Celtics' Kevin Garnett & Ray Allen Outside the "Late Show"

I'm an extreme Lakers fan, so it was bitter\sweet to find out when arrived to the "Late Show" yesterday that Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen were going to be on the show. I knew it would make for some interesting clips for the blog, and I wanted to see firsthand how tall Kevin Garnett was, but I was still fuming over their victory over the Lakers.

Garnett was very friendly with the crowd, but only signed one "vip" autograph. Ray Allen signed one more autograph than Garnett, and even stopped for a short interview with the channel 2 news team.

Jane Krakowski of "30 Rock" Oustside the "Late Show"

First of all, Jane Krakowski wasn't originally on the "Late Show" website as being one of this week's guest, and even if she had been I would not have known who she was by name, but I was pleasantly surprised to see her when she showed up, because "30 Rock" is my favorite show.

Except for one professional autograph seeker, and the paparazzi, no one else seemed to know who she was, but the tourists thought she was very pretty, and let her know it - many times.

Lance Armstrong Outside the "Late Show with David Letterman"

Lance Armstrong was late, so he had a police escort down 53rd to the show. I wonder who sets that up, and do you call 911 or 311 to get a police escort through traffic when you're running late.

As you will see in part two, the autograph seekers were going nuts. You must be able to get a decent amount of money on eBay for Lance's signature. The autograph seekers chased Lance's SUV down to the street to catch him at the stoplight in hopes of getting a signature!

Part 1

Part 2

Steve Carell Outside the "Late Show with David Letterman"

Steve Carell of "The Office" was also late for the show, but he didn't get a police escort.

There was an confrontation between the paparazzi, security, and fans as Steve was leaving the show. Some fans jumped into the pictures the paparazzi were taking, and the paparazzi scolded the security guards for not keeping the fans back.

One paparazzo said,"At least they could have posed with him. I could have sold that picture, but now they're ruined!"

Dr. John Leaving the "Late Show with David Letterman"

I'll admit I wasn't sure who Dr. John was, so I wikipediad him; however, I still got him confused with the guy in the yellow suit who is actually in Dr. John's band. Dr. John didn't sign any autographs or pose for the paparazzi, because, as he stated, he had to rush to his next gig.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

Mike Myers Leaving the "Late Show with David Letterman"

Mike Myers dodged autograph seekers, and the paparazzi on the way into the show by quickly going into a side door behind us. Some of the "Late Show" security guards were upset by his actions, and called Mike a "scum bag," and said, "Who does he think he is?" One of the reasons they were upset is because there was a kid in a wheelchair waiting to get Mike's autograph. Mike did sign a lot of autographs on the way out, and made some hilarious poses for the paparazzi.

Adele Leaving the "Late Show with David Letterman"

Adele stopped to sign autographs, and pose for the papparazzi. She was very friendly, and made small talk with the autograph seekers. She was so friendly that she didn't get into a town car or SUV when she was done signing autographs, but she walked away with a friend down Broadway. Most of the papparazzi left to follow her. I was going to follow her too for a bit, but Dennis Leary's car was pulling, so I stayed.

BMX Record Breaker Kevin Robinson Leaving the "Late Show"

When I saw David Letterman in Central Park watching Kevin Robinson break the BMX record, I should have known that Dave was going to have KRob on the show. Notice how badly bruised Kevin's left elbow is. He really took some hard falls while trying to break the record.

Emmylou Harris Departs the "Late Show with David Letterman"

Emmylou Harris took a long time to come out after the show, and it was crazy hot outside. The area that is sectioned off for autograph seekers, and the paparazzi is directly in the sun, so I had to shade myself with my umbrella. She was really nice, and down to earth. She signed some autographs, and posed for a picture, but didn't stop for the paparazzi.

Artie Lange Departing the "Late Show with David Letterman"

This is our first week doing the blog, and I didn't realize that the show taped at 3:30 instead of 4:30 on Thursdays, so I almost missed Artie as he was exciting the show. Notice Artie hitting on the hot chick, and asking her. "Can I call you?

Part 2

David Letterman in Central Park

I went to the Red Bull Experiment BMX show in Central Park last night, and guessed who I "bumped into"? David Letterman! I was going to tell him about the blog, but I was afraid he would try to have it shut down, so I didn't say anything.

Zooey Deschanel Arriving at the "Late Show with David Letterman"

Zooey arrived at the "Late Show" fashionably late, excuse the pun, and didn't have time to sign autographs, but she did make time to pose for the paparazzi.

Part 1

Part 2

Zooey Deschanel Departing the "Late Show with David Letterman"

As promised, Zooey stopped to sign autographs on her way out of the show, and of posed for the paparazzi again before climbing into her awaiting SUV.

Part 1

Part 2

These die-hard Zooey fans waited in the blazing sun for over an hour to get her autograph.

Regis Philbin Arrives to the "Late Show"

Regis wasn't listed on the show's website as one of today's guests, so I was surprised when he pulled up. I was expecting Zooey, but he was a nice surprise. I didn't get him when he was leaving, because I was standing on the corner of 53rd and Broadway waiting to get video of the water skit that never happened. More on the water skit that never happened later.

Scott McClellan Outside the "Late Show with David Letterman"

Scott's car actually passed the entrance, and Scott had to walk back to the show. After the show, he went straight to his car, but got out to pose for the paparazzi, and to sign autographs after he was loudly encouraged by the crowd.

Jakob Dylan Didn't Stop for Autographs

If you're looking for video of Jakob Dylan, there isn't any because he didn't stop for autographs or for the paparazzi. One of the autographs seekers warned me that Jakob wasn't very nice, so...

Alanis Morissette Leaving the "Late Show with David Letterman"

Alanis Morissette took a long time to come out after the show. She signed some autographs, and posed very briefly for the papparazi before getting into her luxury 18-passenger van.

"Late Show" Behind the Scenes Jamba Juice Skit

Dave had a bunch of "characters" squeeze into a Jamba Juice on Broadway. They ranged from aliens to Indiana Jones.

In this clip, the "characters" are lined up on Broadway waiting to enter Jamba Juice.I actually almost missed this. I was waiting for the water skit, when I noticed the "characters" exiting the Ed Sullivan Theater. I jaywalked across the street to get the video.

The characters enter Jamba Juice one-by-one, then in groups until Jamba Juice is filled.

Mark Wahlberg Leaving the "Late Show with David Letterman"

Mark Wahlberg signed a ton of autographs. I've never seen anyone sign more autographs except for Tom Cruise.

Behind the Scenes of the "Late Show" Water Skit

The weather has been in the high 90s all week in New York City, so Dave has been pretending he's Mayor Bloomberg, and dowsing people with water.

Heidi and Spencer Arrive at the "Late Show with David Letterman"

I can't believe how popular Heidi, and Spencer are! The last time Heidi was on the show, you would have thought she was Britney. This video is of them arriving to the show. Notice they had car service, and not a SUV. Spencer's episode airs on Friday.

(Editor's Note: This is our first day, and the video quality on the site is of a low - YouTube like quality. It will get better as the days go on - as we work out the kinks.)

Mark Odger's Jumps Over Six Interns on "Late Show"

These are behind the scenes videos Mark Odgers jump over six interns.

Those interns were standing in the sun for over an hour, and it was over 90 degrees in New York City today. I wanted to give one of them my umbrella for shade. I felt really bad for them.

This is the actual jump.

This video is of Mark Odger loading his truck after the jump. I was a little surprised he brought his own equipment.

Whoopi Goldberg Arriving at the "Late Show with David Letterman"

Whoopi was great! She stopped for the paparazzi, and signed a lot of autographs. However, she appeared to be a little insecure about her looks. She kept putting herself down. She questioned why the paparazzi were taking pictures of her, and when the guy in the video complemented her on losing weight by saying, "You look good girl!" - she questioned his judgment.

Cee-Lo Leaving the "Late Show with David Letterman"

Cee-Lo of Gnarls Barkley didn't stop for the paparazzi or to sign autographs. This is a very quick clip of him leaving the show in a very animated manner.

Elettra Rossellini Wiedemann Leaving the "Late Show with David Letterman"

I have to admit, I had no idea who Elettra was, so I wikipedia'd her

Elettra Rossellini Wiedemann (born 1983 in New York City) is an American fashion model. She is the daughter of Italian actress and model Isabella Rossellini. Her maternal grandparents were Ingrid Bergman and Roberto Rossellini.

Elettra grew up in New York City and attended high school at the United Nations International School, where she became fluent in French. Growing up, Elettra suffered from scoliosis, a condition that had also afflicted her mother, and had to wear a back brace twenty-three hours a day from the ages of twelve to seventeen.

During her time at college, she began a modeling career. Her first contract was for Bruce Weber for Abercrombie & Fitch. In addition, she has also modeled for companies like Bill Blass and Ferragamo and for the fashion magazines Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. In fact, she spent two years living and modeling in Milan, becoming fluent in Italian. Currently, she is the spokesmodel for LancĂ´me's Hydra Zen moisturizer and Color Ideal foundation product lines.

Elettra said on the show that after she finishes her studies at the London School of Economics, she wants to work for Barack Obama.
